CNU Foundations works closely with the leadership of the university in providing support and guidance in the areas of wise property acquisition, management of investments and good stewardship of the generosity of the local community and other benefactors.
The Real Estate Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that functions as a charitable foundation to assist, support and foster the mission of Christopher Newport University. The Real Estate Foundation accomplishes its mission by:
- Providing the university with guidance and decision-making information in the matters of real estate and real estate value and acquisition
- Functioning as a holding company and manager of non-campus properties
- Advising leadership in the securing of real estate for investment purposes
- Providing real estate information in support of the growth and growth management strategies of the university
Purposes and Goals
The CNU Education Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation which functions as a charitable foundation to assist, support and foster the mission of Christopher Newport University. We accomplish this purpose through:
- Participating in the formulation of strategies to obtain charitable contributions and promoting and monitoring those strategies in conjunction with University Advancement and in consultation with the President and other leadership of CNU
- Creating the investment policy of the Foundation, selecting the fund manager and monitoring the performance of the investments
- Informing and educating potential donors and supporters as to the mission and needs of CNU
- Promoting planned charitable gifts to CNU
- Promoting proper donor stewardship
- To render financial assistance to CNU
