Course textbook selections are made electronically through e-Follett’s virtual textbook adoption process. In accordance with Virginia and CNU Board of Visitor requirements, textbook selections must be available to students by the following dates:
- April 1 for all summer sessions
- April 15 for fall semesters
- November 1 for spring semesters

In order to use the Follett Discover Online Adoptions Tool to make textbook selections, you must log in to Blackboard and look for the Follett Discover link or button.
- Upon launching Follett Discover, the dashboard defaults to the “My Courses” screen with the course information for the current term.
- You can use the discipline, subject and results filter to show titles specific to your course or use the smart search to find course materials by keyword, author, title or 13-digit ISBN.
- Select the material usage from the dropdown and click ADOPT to submit.
- Once you have completed your adoptions, you can share the adopted materials. Enter the email addresses and select “Send to Recipients.”
- If a course does not require any course material, select the course, and select “I have no items to adopt for this course.”
- You may also “Manage a Course” which allows you to do the following:
- Update the discipline and subject
- Manage adoptions by section
- View status of adopted materials
- Remove adopted materials
- Manually adopt materials
- Adopt items from your library
- Create custom course packs
- Continue discovering additional materials
- Add instructions for your students
Students in my course tell me they have not received their textbook orders yet. What can I tell them?

Where can students purchase classroom “clickers”?
CNU uses the Turning Technologies QT clicker so students are not required to purchase different types of clickers for different classes. QT clickers are available in The Captains Locker.
Is there a way to make a textbook selection for multiple sections of the same course?
No. We hope to provide this functionality in the future.
Does Follett Virtual Bookstore ever run out of textbooks, especially custom titles? If so, what can be done?
Custom titles can take up to eight weeks to print and ship. For this reason, it is critical to have such orders submitted on or before the stated textbook adoption deadline. It is also important that the estimated enrollment be as accurate as possible.
Follett orders custom quantities based on the estimated enrollment stated during the electronic adoption. If sections are added or enrollment is increased, it is important to update the online adoption tool as soon as possible.
