TheaterCNU Pre-Fall General Auditions

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"

"Dr. Frankenstein"
Directed by Denise Gilman

General auditions will be video submissions. Auditions are due by Monday, May 18, 2020. Each auditionee will submit:

  • Video 1 titled LastName, FirstInitial SING
    • Please prepare a song from a contemporary musical. You may use your jury recording. If you need accompaniment recorded, please email professor Ruffer for assistance prior to May 11.
  • Video 2 titled LastName, FirstInitial MONO
    • Please prepare a monologue from one of the options from "Dr. Frankenstein".
  • Audition card / fall conflict sheet / FERPA titled LastName, FirstInitial

Email to obtain an audition card and/or monologue options.

Dress for the video as you would an in-person audition. Be aware of your background and film the video in front of plain or simple walls, avoid ceiling fans, overhead lights and unkept areas. Be sure you framed the camera and that you are visible and looking at the camera.

Callbacks will be held virtually and scheduled from May 18 - 25 by the stage manager. Callbacks will include the auditionee, director and musical director.
Possible roles to be cast: Olive Ostrovsky, William Morris Barfee, Marcy, Leaf Coneybear, Charlito "Chip" Tolentino

"Dr. Frankenstein"
All callbacks will take place in August 2020. *Please note the Creature appears shirtless, and those called back for this role may be requested to remove their shirt.

All acting and music theater concentration students are required to audition. TheaterCNU maintains an open casting policy for mainstage and second stage productions. All students, faculty, staff and Tidewater community members are welcome to audition.

TheaterCNU fall general auditions are scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, 2020.
