Auditions

General Auditions:

  • April 11, 7 - 11 p.m.
  • In the Rehearsal Hall (Ferguson T107)
  • Due to current university COVID guidelines, auditionees may audition either masked or unmasked

Please prepare 32 bars (no more than 60 seconds) of a folk-pop/country music selection or a song from a similar style musical (e.g., Hadestown, Brightstare, Floyd Collins, Alice By Heart, Violet, Waitress, Once, Robber Bridegroom, Fugitive Songs) The cast recording is available for reference through Spotify. Piano accompaniment provided. Please bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key.

Please prepare a 50 - 60-second classical or contemporary, dramatic monologue with heightened emotion and strong physicality. Students may also select a monologue from Dr. Frankenstein (copies available in the Theater Library).

Spitfire Callbacks:

  • Acting callbacks will be held April 12 at 7 p.m.
  • Music callbacks will be held April 13 at 7 p.m.

All roles to be cast.

Dr. Frankenstein Callbacks:

  • Callbacks will be held April 14 at 7 p.m.
  • Actors involved in Everybody will be scheduled after brush-up has ended.

Additional Information

Students in the acting and music-theater concentrations are required to audition. This audition will serve as part of the sophomore checkpoint for all musical-theater and acting students, please contact your adviser for more information.

TheaterCNU maintains an open casting policy for Mainstage and Second Stage productions. All students, faculty, staff and Hampton Roads community members are welcome to audition.

Callbacks will be held in-person September 22, 5:15 – 7 p.m. in the dance studio (FERG T177).
