Undergraduate Academic Program Review Committee

In accordance with the University Handbook, the Program Review Committee conducts a continuing study and systematic review of all program offerings of the university and makes recommendations to the Provost on program continuation/discontinuation, program related resource (re)allocation, and curricular modification.

The Undergraduate Academic Program Review Committee (PRC) shall consist of nine faculty members (three from Arts and Humanities, three Natural and Behavior Sciences, three from Social Sciences), two from each college appointed by the provost and one from each college appointed by the Faculty Senate; and the director of assessment and evaluation (non-voting). The chair shall be a faculty member who has served on the PRC for at least one year.

The PRC reports administratively to the vice provost for research, graduate studies and assessment, and reports to the Faculty Senate regarding policies and procedures and other issues as appropriate, evaluates degree program offerings of the university for curriculum alignment and outcomes in a six-year cycle and makes recommendations to the Provost and Dean about curricular modification within individual programs based on departmental, college, and university missions.

Submission and Review Process

  • The completed self-study should be submitted to:
  • Reports should be submitted no later than the last day of classes in the spring semester.
    • The PRC reviews the study and prepares questions for clarification for the department to respond in writing and in person at a committee meeting. These written responses are considered when the PRC report is completed.
    • The PRC sends the report to the provost and respective dean for review.
    • The dean reviews the PRC report and, in conjunction with the department, determines action agenda items the department will focus on to improve.
    • The department will report progress on the action agenda items to the appropriate dean.
