They were developed by teams of faculty experts from across the country assembled by the American Association of Colleges and Universities as part of its VALUE: Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education initiative. Collectively known as the VALUE Rubrics, they are currently in wide usage across US institutions of higher learning.
Feel free to adapt them to meet the objectives of your assignment and course learning outcomes. There is no need to use them as is unless they serve your purposes in their current form.
