Membership and Facility Policies

Current CNU students, faculty and staff are eligible for free memberships and access to the Freeman Center Trieshmann Health and Fitness Pavilion, Auxiliary Gym and Field House.

Spouses of students, faculty and staff, and CNU alumni may purchase a membership for $250/year.

Retired professors may purchase a membership for $175/year.

Such memberships will be available for sale starting September 11.

Memberships are not available to the public.

Guest policy: Current CNU students, faculty, and staff may bring ONE guest. Guests must be at least 18 years of age (picture ID required), sign a waiver, and be accompanied by their CNU sponsor at all times. Guest fees are $10 per person for each day (i.e., only for the day obtained, not 24 hours from the day/time of purchase). Guests will be permitted starting September 11.

Please note that the Trieshmann Health and Fitness Pavilion and Auxiliary Gym are only accessible to current students, faculty, staff and authorized members. Access to the Pavilion and Auxiliary Gym is only through the Welcome Desk turnstiles. Random ID checks may be conducted. As the Captains Card is basically your lifeline to campus, carry it with you at all times. It must be presented at the time of use to obtain or use services and/or facilities. Unauthorized entry will be addressed as appropriate and those in violation of this policy may be referred to the Center for Honor Enrichment and Community Standards.

Lockers are for day use only. Bring your own lock and remove it after you are finished with your workout. Locks left on overnight will be cut off and items in the locker will be stored in "lost and found" for 30 days.

Combination lockers are available for faculty and staff. Rates are $60 for the year or $35 for 6 months. Lockers may be rented beginning September 11.

Please help us maintain a friendly, safe and clean environment by following these guidelines:

Chalk: Liquid chalk is permitted; powdered chalk is not permitted.

Personal items: Bags and large personal items are not permitted in the Trieshmann Health and Fitness Pavilion. Lockers are day-use only; locks must be removed by the close of business.

Breathing techniques during exercise: Proper breathing techniques are vital during strenuous exercise like weightlifting. However, please respect others with more silent, less vocal exhalations (as opposed to grunts or groans). Disruption to other patrons will result is being asked to leave the activity areas.

Profanity: Be respectful to others by refraining from using profanity. Patrons may be asked to leave if they are engaging in such behavior.

Weight usage: Be gentle when setting down weights to avoid damaging equipment and flooring or injuring others. Please do not drop the weights. This can cause injury or equipment damage as well as distract others. Consider using a spotter or lighter weights.

Re-rack weights: Return fitness equipment to its original storage location. This includes barbell plates, hand weights, resistance bands, mats, stability balls, kettlebells, etc.

Equipment cleaning: Working out can be a sweaty business, so please wipe down equipment when finished. Cleaning stations are available in various locations of the Trieshmann Health and Fitness Pavilion.

Share equipment: Be mindful of your time on equipment when others are waiting, especially during peak times (Monday-Friday, 4–9 p.m.).

Multipurpose Rooms: The multipurpose rooms may be used outside of fitness class and program events. If you would like to use a spin cycle in multipurpose room 1, see the attendant at Fitness Desk #2 to check one out.
