Captain of the Quarter
Employee recognition is essential to attract and retain an engaged and highly qualified workforce. It is the goal of the University to promote a program that recognizes and rewards the hard work and dedication of our Classified, Administrative/Professional, and Hourly employees on a quarterly basis.
- Classified, Administrative/Professional, and Hourly employees are eligible.
- Supervisor verification that the employee is in good standing with no active disciplinary action.
- Employees cannot nominate themselves.
- Nominations can be submitted for any eligible active employee by any student, faculty, or staff of the University.
- Nominations may be submitted using the Nomination Form. Paper nominations will also be accepted in the Office of Human Resources.
- All nominations will be reviewed by a committee with members representing departments across campus.
- Human Resources will monitor the recognition program and awards to ensure fairness and equity throughout the process.
- Nominations should be submitted no later than 5th of the month for the prior quarter.
- January - March - nominations due by April 5th
- April - June - nominations due by July 5th
- July - September - nominations due by October 5th
- October - December - nominations due by January 5th
- Employees cannot be selected more than once in a calendar year.
Award winners may draw for one of the following:
- Athletics tickets - four pack (non-taxable)
- Ferguson Center tickets - two pack (non-taxable)
- A gift certificate to Captains Locker or Captains Cash in the amount of $50 (taxable)
All employees receiving the Captain of the Quarter will receive the following:
- Letter and Certificate from President Kelly
- Lunch with President Kelly (once a year with all award winners)
- Captain of the Quarter Plaque
- Parking Decal for next academic year (non-taxable)
- Name and picture on HR website and in the HR Spinnaker Newsletter
- Recognition at the Annual Service Award and Recognition Ceremony
- Name listed on Captain of the Quarter plaque in Human Resources
Awards may be subject to appropriate tax withholding and will not be added to the employee’s base pay.
