Residence Hall Association
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) unites all residential students, in one organization, that seeks to improve the overall quality of the campus residential experience through advocacy, campus collaborations, leadership, and programming. Each residential student is automatically a part of RHA and is welcome to attend any general meeting and RHA events. As an Anchor Organization, RHA operates under a budget funded by the collected Student Activity Fee as distributed by the Student Government Association. For more information on how to get involved in RHA, please email us at rha@cnu.edu or visit our Compass page.Annual Programs Include:
Fall Semester
- Tie Dye-Versity: each student receives a free white t-shirt to tie dye. Each color has a meaning, giving students the opportunity to create something that represents them.
- Trunk or Treat: members of the university community are invited to decorate a vehicle and hand out candy to members of the CNU and Newport News communities
- S’more’s Social: students are encouraged to stop by the JR courts to warm up by the fire, drink hot chocolate, and make some s’mores.
- Pancake Breakfast: on the Sunday before finals, Commons turns into a pancake house. Served by faculty and staff, students get to relax and eat all the pancakes and bacon they can before getting back to studying. All the proceeds earned from this event go straight to Toys-for-Tots.
Spring Semester
- Roommate Mixer: just in time for the Housing Selection Process, this event is for students searching for potential roommates or suitemates for the upcoming year through a speed-dating type set up.
- Ice Cream Truck: celebrate the nearing of summer with RHA as they drive around campus in a golf cart passing out free ice-cream.
